What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Aston Martin? — The precisely matched standard leather colour enables faithful colour refreshers and repairs to Aston Martin leathers, ensuring a consistently uniform, factory-typical finish.
COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Aston Martin) is a precisely matched standard leather colour for professional repair, refreshment, and recolouring of Aston Martin leather interiors. The colours are based on original Aston Martin colour samples and are formulated to blend harmoniously into existing surfaces. Ideal for seat bolsters, steering wheels, armrests, door panels, and all pigmented smooth leather in the vehicle interior where colour accuracy and OEM appearance are crucial.
💡 Practical tip from Detailing1 workshop: In our workshop, we often see the same problem with Aston Martin preparations — colour loss on seat bolsters and steering wheels is covered with cheap care spray that doesn't last four weeks. With Leather Colour (Aston Martin) dabbed onto a microfibre pad in 2–3 thin layers, with 30 minutes of drying time in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat Dull — the result lasts 2–3 years, just like factory new.
Leather Colour (Aston Martin) is applied in 2–3 thin layers, with 30 minutes of drying time in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat. Thin layers last for years, thick layers crack.
Before applying the colour, the leather is washed with leather cleaner and degreased with Plastic Cleaner or cleaning alcohol. Deep cracks and abrasion marks are filled with Filler or Super Filler and sanded smooth with 1000-grit sanding fleece. The Aston Martin colour shades are then dabbed on with a microfibre pad, wiped with a soft brush, or, for large-area repairs, applied with a spray bottle.
After complete drying for at least 4 hours, it is sealed with Top Coat — Dull for a matte original OEM look, Glossy for medium shine, High Gloss for maximum brilliance. One litre of Leather Colour covers approximately 8–10 m² of leather surface; a 250 ml bottle is sufficient for a complete pair of seats including the steering wheel. The same workflow applies to all components from the seat cushion to the door panel and centre armrest.
Leather Colour (Aston Martin) is exclusively suitable for pigmented smooth leather — the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather, and suede react differently and require different COLOURLOCK product lines.
The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leathers, remains elastic, and accommodates leather movements without cracking. With natural leather or open-pore aniline leather, the colour penetrates the fibres unevenly and discolours the leather blotchily — in these cases, Leather Fresh (Aston Martin) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour, and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Aston Martin), which preserves the rough fibre structure instead of sticking it together.
If colour accuracy to the original factory colour is crucial and the component needs extensive restoration, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small area (steering wheel abrasion, single crack) needs repair, Fluid Leather (Aston Martin) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
Leather Colour (Aston Martin) is the professional choice for detailers, independent workshops, and ambitious owners who prioritize value retention and original Aston Martin colour accuracy over quick care solutions.
For lease returns, used vehicle preparations, and classic and modern classic car restorations, OEM colour accuracy determines value retention and selling price. The professional 4-step workflow (clean, sand, colour, seal) takes 4 hours including drying per component and delivers a result that lasts 2–3 years like factory new. One litre of Leather Colour costs about 30 cents per 100 ml of processed area — workshop calculation including Top Coat is around 12 euros per component.
For pure care routines without workshop tools, Leather Colour is overkill — Leather Fresh (Aston Martin) is sufficient there. For spot repairs on the steering wheel or individual cracks, Fluid Leather or the Leather Care Sets (Aston Martin) are more economical. However, anyone who wants to restore complete seat bolsters, steering wheels, or door panels and values original Aston Martin colour accuracy cannot do without the 1-litre bottle or the 250 ml container.
Aurora Blue, Baltic Blue, Blue, Blue Haze, Caspion Blue, Chancellor, Chestnut Tan, Cream Truffle, Lords Red, Obsidian Black, Phantom Grey, Sahara Tan, Sandstorm, Tuscan Tan, Bitter Chocolate, Dark Mocha, Ivory, Red Fox, Quail Grey, Soft White, Parchment, Mushroom, Bison Brown, Dark Chestnut, Old Oak, Saddle Tan, Dark Tan, Light Tan, Old Tan, Ocean Blue, Atlantic Blue, Royal Blue, Navy Blue, Dark Grey, Geneva Grey, Medium Grey, Falcon Grey, Smoke Grey, Moonshadow, Magnolia, Olive Green, Forest Green, Fern Green, St. James Red, Iron Ore Red, Parliament Green, Shark Blue, Light Grey, Copper Tan, Spicy Red
COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Aston Martin) is a water-based, elastic leather standard colour in original Aston Martin shades. It is used for repairing, refreshing, or recolouring pigmented smooth leather in vehicle interiors — seats, steering wheels, armrests, door panels.
First, thoroughly clean and degrease the leather. Fill and sand any damage with filler. Then, dab, wipe, or spray on thin layers of Leather Colour — 2–3 thin coats are better than one thick one. After complete drying, seal with Top Coat (Dull/Glossy/High Gloss).
Leather Colour is the professional repair dye (1L/250ml, can be sealed with Top Coat). Leather Fresh is the conditioning colour cream (1L/100ml) for lighter touch-ups without elaborate preparation. For deep abrasion → Leather Colour; for dull surfaces → Leather Fresh.
The colours are based on original Aston Martin factory colour samples. For heavily faded leather, we still recommend a colour test in an inconspicuous area, as the original leather darkens or fades over years.
Three classics: (1) Leather not degreased beforehand — colour won't adhere. (2) Too thick a layer applied — cracks when drying. (3) Top coat sealing omitted — abrasion resistance under 6 months. With proper preparation, the result lasts 2–3 years.
Yes, for lasting abrasion resistance. Without Top Coat, the colour on seat bolsters and steering wheels will wear off again within a few weeks. Top Coat Dull = matt-original (OEM look), Glossy = medium sheen, High Gloss = high sheen.

If color fidelity to the original factory color is crucial and the component needs to be extensively restored, Leather Colour is the right choice. If the leather appears only slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
