What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Audi? — This precisely matched standard leather colour allows for true-to-original colour refreshing and repairs on Audi leather, ensuring a consistently uniform, factory-typical finish.
COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Audi) is an exactly matched standard leather colour for the professional repair, refreshing, and recolouring of Audi leather interiors. The colours are based on original Audi colour samples and are formulated to blend harmoniously into existing surfaces. Ideal for seat bolsters, steering wheels, armrests, door panels, and all pigmented smooth leather in the vehicle interior where colour accuracy and OEM appearance are crucial.
💡 Practical tip from the Detailing1 workshop: In our workshop, we frequently see the same problem with Audi detailing — colour loss on seat bolsters and steering wheels is covered up with cheap care spray, which doesn't last four weeks. With Leather Colour (Audi) dabbed on with a microfiber pad in 2–3 thin layers, drying for 30 minutes in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat Dull — the result lasts 2–3 years, just like from the factory.
Leather Colour (Audi) is applied in 2–3 thin layers, with 30 minutes of drying time in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat. Thin layers last for years, thick layers crack.
Before applying the colour, the leather is washed with leather cleaner and degreased with Plastic Cleaner or rubbing alcohol. Deep cracks and scuff marks are filled with Filler or Super Filler and sanded smooth with 1000-grit sanding fleece. The Audi colour tones are then dabbed on with a microfiber pad, wiped smooth with a soft brush, or applied with a spray bottle for large-area repairs.
After complete drying for at least 4 hours, seal with Top Coat — Dull for a matte, original OEM look, Glossy for medium sheen, High Gloss for maximum brilliance. One litre of Leather Colour covers approximately 8–10 m² of leather surface; a 250-ml bottle is sufficient for a complete pair of seats including the steering wheel. The same workflow works for all components from seat cushions to door panels and the centre armrest.
Leather Colour (Audi) is exclusively suitable for pigmented smooth leather — the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather, and suede react differently and require other COLOURLOCK product lines.
The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leather, remains elastic, and accommodates leather movements without cracking. With natural leather or open-pored aniline leather, the colour penetrates the fibres unevenly and stains the leather — here, Leather Fresh (Audi) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour, and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Audi), which preserves the rough fibre structure instead of gluing it down.
If colour accuracy to the original factory colour is crucial and the component needs extensive restoration, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small spot (steering wheel abrasion, a single crack) needs repair, Fluid Leather (Audi) in the 20-ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
Leather Colour (Audi) is the professional choice for detailers, independent workshops, and ambitious owners who prioritize value retention and original Audi colour accuracy over quick care solutions.
For lease returns, used vehicle detailing, and classic and youngtimer restorations, OEM colour accuracy determines value retention and sales price. The professional 4-step workflow (clean, sand, colour, seal) takes 4 hours including drying per component and delivers a result that lasts 2–3 years, just like from the factory. One litre of Leather Colour costs about 30 cents per 100 ml of processed surface — workshop calculation including Top Coat is around 12 Euros per component.
For pure care routines without workshop tools, Leather Colour is overkill — there, Leather Fresh (Audi) is sufficient. For spot repairs on the steering wheel or individual cracks, Fluid Leather or the Leather Care Sets (Audi) are more economical. However, for those who want to restore entire seat bolsters, steering wheels, or door panels and value original Audi colour accuracy, the 1-litre bottle or 250-ml container is indispensable.
Agate / Agate Grey, Alabaster White, Amaretto Brown / Amaretto, Amulet Red, Anthracite, Aqua, Atlantis, Aztec Yellow, Blues, Classic Red, Cocos / Cocos Beige, Cognac, Denim, Ecru, Ice Blue, Fern Green, Feather, Goyabeige, Granite Grey / Granite, Graphite, Havana Brown, Indigo, Jive, Kamut / Kamut Beige, Cardamom Beige, Crimson Red, Lago, Azure Blue, Lava Light, Linen Beige, Light Grey, Lindfield Beige, Magnolia / Magnolia White, Maritime, Maron, Melange, Brass Beige, Mineral Grey, Moon Silver, Moor Brown, Mouton Red, Shell, Mustang Brown, Night Blue, Nautic, Neptune Blue, Onyx, Para Brown, Piment / Piment Beige, Platinum, Smoke Blue, Regency Green, Royal Blue, Cream / Cream Beige, Velvet Beige, Sand Beige, Sand Yellow, Sapphire, Slate, Black, Silk, Silk Beige, Silk Beige A8, Sesame, Sierra, Signal Orange, Emerald, Soul, Soul Metallic, Steel Grey (Light Grey Variant), Steppe, Star Silver, Swing, Tango, Tara Beige, Terra, Titanium, Titanium Grey, Torrone / Beige, Travertine and many more.
COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Audi) is a water-based, elastic leather standard dye in original Audi shades. It is used for repairing, refreshing, or recoloring pigmented smooth leather in the vehicle interior — seats, steering wheels, armrests, door panels.
First, thoroughly clean and degrease the leather. Fill and sand any damage with Filler. Then, dab, wipe, or spray on thin layers of Leather Colour — 2-3 thin coats are better than one thick one. After complete drying, seal with Top Coat (Dull/Glossy/High Gloss).
Leather Colour is the professional repair dye (1L/250ml, sealable with Top Coat). Leather Fresh is the conditioning color cream (1L/100ml) for lighter touch-ups without extensive preparation. For deep abrasion → Leather Colour; for dull surfaces → Leather Fresh.
The color shades are based on original Audi factory color samples. For heavily faded leather, we still recommend a color test in an inconspicuous area, as the original leather darkens or fades over the years.
Three classics: (1) Leather not degreased beforehand — paint does not adhere. (2) Too thick a layer applied — cracks when drying. (3) Top coat sealing omitted — abrasion resistance under 6 months. With proper preparation, the result lasts 2-3 years.
Yes, for lasting abrasion resistance. Without a Top Coat, the color on seat bolsters and steering wheels will rub off again within a few weeks. Top Coat Dull = matte-original (OEM look), Glossy = medium gloss, High Gloss = high gloss.
Care instructions for Leather Colour (Audi):
Leather Colour (Audi) is only suitable for pigmented smooth leather - the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather and suede react differently and require different COLOURLOCK product lines.
The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leather, remains elastic and accommodates leather movements without cracking. For natural leather or open-pore aniline leather, the dye penetrates the fibres unevenly and stains the leather - in these cases, Leather Fresh (Audi) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Audi), which preserves the rough fibre structure instead of gluing it together.
If colour fidelity to the original factory colour is crucial and the component is to be extensively restored, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small area (steering wheel abrasion, single crack) needs to be repaired, Fluid Leather (Audi) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
