COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Jaguar: Original Standard Colour for Factory-Authentic Leather Repairs

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Jaguar? — This precisely matched standard leather colour enables authentic colour refreshment and repairs on Jaguar leather, ensuring a consistently uniform, factory-typical finish.

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Jaguar) is a precisely matched standard leather colour for the professional repair, refreshment, and recolouring of Jaguar leather interiors. The colours are based on original Jaguar colour samples and are formulated to blend harmoniously with existing surfaces. Ideal for seat bolsters, steering wheels, armrests, door panels, and all pigmented smooth leather surfaces in the vehicle interior where colour accuracy and OEM appearance are crucial.

  • Original Jaguar Colour Tones – Developed based on factory-near colour samples.
  • For Repair & Refreshment – Ideal for scuffs, fading, and colour loss.
  • Professional Finish – Optimal adhesion and uniform colour appearance.

💡 Practical tip from the Detailing1 Workshop: In our workshop, we frequently encounter the same problem with Jaguar detailing — colour loss on seat bolsters and steering wheels is covered with cheap care spray, which doesn't last four weeks. With Leather Colour (Jaguar) dabbed onto a microfiber pad in 2–3 thin layers, with 30 minutes drying time in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat Dull — the result lasts 2–3 years, just like from the factory.

Prepare, dab thinly, seal with Top Coat

Leather Colour (Jaguar) is applied in 2–3 thin layers, with 30 minutes drying time in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat. Thin layers last for years; thick layers crack.

Before applying the colour, the leather is cleaned with leather cleaner and degreased with Plastic Cleaner or cleaning alcohol. Deep cracks and scuff marks are levelled with Filler or Super Filler and sanded smooth with 1000-grit sanding fleece. The Jaguar colour tones are then dabbed on with a microfibre pad, wiped over with a soft brush, or, for large-area repairs, applied with a spray bottle.

After complete drying for at least 4 hours, it is sealed with Top Coat — Dull for a matte, original OEM look, Glossy for medium shine, High Gloss for maximum brilliance. One litre of Leather Colour covers approximately 8–10 m² of leather surface; a 250 ml bottle is sufficient for a complete pair of seats including the steering wheel. The same workflow works for all components from seat cushions to door panels to the centre armrest.

Pigmented leather yes, natural leather and suede no

Leather Colour (Jaguar) is suitable exclusively for pigmented smooth leather — the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather, and suede react differently and require other COLOURLOCK product lines.

The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leathers, remains elastic, and accommodates leather movements without cracking. On natural leather or open-pore aniline leather, the colour penetrates the fibres unevenly and stains the leather — in these cases, Leather Fresh (Jaguar) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour, and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Jaguar), which preserves the rough fibre structure instead of sticking it together.

If colour accuracy to the original factory colour is crucial and the component is to be extensively restored, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small area (steering wheel abrasion, single crack) needs to be repaired, Fluid Leather (Jaguar) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.

For detailers, workshops and classic car owners

Leather Colour (Jaguar) is the professional choice for detailers, independent workshops, and ambitious owners who prioritise value retention and original Jaguar colour accuracy over quick care solutions.

For lease returns, used vehicle detailing, and classic car restorations, OEM colour accuracy determines residual value and selling price. The professional 4-step workflow (clean, sand, dye, seal) takes 4 hours including drying time per component and delivers a result that lasts 2–3 years, just like from the factory. One litre of Leather Colour costs approximately 30 cents per 100 ml of applied surface — workshop calculation including Top Coat is around 12 Euros per component.

For pure care routines without workshop tools, Leather Colour is overkill — Leather Fresh (Jaguar) is sufficient there. For spot repairs on the steering wheel or individual cracks, Fluid Leather or the Leather Care Sets (Jaguar) are more economical. However, those who want to restore complete seat bolsters, steering wheels, or door panels and value original Jaguar colour accuracy cannot do without the 1-liter bottle or the 250-ml container.

What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Jaguar?

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Jaguar) is a water-based, elastic standard leather dye in original Jaguar colours. It is used for repairing, refreshing, or recolouring pigmented smooth leather in vehicle interiors — seats, steering wheels, armrests, door panels.

How do I apply Leather Colour (Jaguar) correctly?

First, thoroughly clean and degrease the leather. Fill and sand any damage with filler. Then apply Leather Colour thinly by dabbing, wiping, or spraying — 2–3 thin coats are better than one thick one. After complete drying, seal with Top Coat (Dull/Glossy/High Gloss).

What is the difference to Leather Fresh?

Leather Colour is the professional repair dye (1L/250ml, sealable with Top Coat). Leather Fresh is the care colour cream (1L/100ml) for lighter touch-ups without extensive preparation. For deep abrasion → Leather Colour; for dull surfaces → Leather Fresh.

Do the colours really match Jaguar exactly?

The colours are based on original Jaguar factory colour samples. For heavily faded leather, we still recommend a colour test in an inconspicuous area, as the original leather may darken or fade over the years.

What are the most common mistakes we see in the workshop?

Three classics: (1) Leather not degreased beforehand — colour does not adhere. (2) Too thick a layer applied — cracks during drying. (3) Top coat sealing omitted — abrasion resistance less than 6 months. With proper preparation, the result lasts 2–3 years.

Do I absolutely need a Top Coat?

Yes, for lasting abrasion resistance. Without Top Coat, the colour on seat bolsters and steering wheels will wear off again within a few weeks. Top Coat Dull = matte original (OEM look), Glossy = medium gloss, High Gloss = high gloss.

Care instructions for standard leather color (Jaguar):

Leather Colour (Jaguar) is exclusively suitable for pigmented smooth leather—the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather, and suede react differently and require other COLOURLOCK product lines.

The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leathers, remains elastic, and accommodates leather movements without cracking. With natural leather or open-pored aniline leather, the color absorbs unevenly into the fibers, staining the leather patchy—here, Leather Fresh (Jaguar) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour, and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Jaguar), which preserves the rough fiber structure instead of sticking it together.

If color fidelity to the original factory color is crucial and the component needs to be extensively restored, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small area (steering wheel abrasion, single crack) needs to be repaired, Fluid Leather (Jaguar) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather appears only slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
