What is COLOURLOCK Leather Colour for Porsche? — The perfectly matched standard leather colour enables authentic colour refreshment and repairs on Porsche leathers, ensuring a permanently uniform, factory-typical finish.
COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Porsche) is a precisely matched standard leather colour for the professional repair, refreshment, and recolouring of Porsche leather interiors. The colours are based on original Porsche colour samples and are formulated to blend harmoniously into existing surfaces. Ideal for seat bolsters, steering wheels, armrests, door panels, and all pigmented smooth leathers in the vehicle interior where colour fidelity and OEM appearance are crucial.
💡 Practical Tip from Detailing1 Workshop: In our workshop, we often see the same problem during Porsche detailing — colour loss on seat bolsters and steering wheels is covered up with cheap care spray, which doesn't last four weeks. With Leather Colour (Porsche) dabbed on with a microfibre pad in 2–3 thin layers, with 30 minutes drying time in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat Dull — the result lasts 2–3 years, just like from the factory.
Leather Colour (Porsche) is applied in 2–3 thin layers, with 30 minutes drying time in between, and finally sealed with Top Coat. Thin layers last for years; thick layers crack.
Before applying the colour, the leather is washed with leather cleaner and degreased with Plastic Cleaner or cleaning alcohol. Deep cracks and scuff marks are levelled with Filler or Super Filler and sanded smooth with 1000-grit sanding fleece. The Porsche colour tones are then dabbed on with a microfibre pad, wiped with a soft brush, or, for large-area repairs, applied with a spray bottle.
After complete drying for at least 4 hours, it is sealed with Top Coat — Dull for a matte-original OEM look, Glossy for medium sheen, High Gloss for maximum brilliance. One litre of Leather Colour covers approximately 8–10 m² of leather surface; a 250 ml bottle is sufficient for a complete pair of seats including the steering wheel. The same workflow works for all components from the seat cushion to the door panel to the centre armrest.
Leather Colour (Porsche) is exclusively suitable for pigmented smooth leather — the standard in modern automotive applications. Natural leather, aniline leather, and suede react differently and require other COLOURLOCK product lines.
The water-based formulation bonds with the pigment layer of modern automotive leathers, remains elastic, and follows leather movements without cracking. On natural leather or open-pored aniline leather, the colour penetrates unevenly into the fibres and stains the leather — here, Leather Fresh (Porsche) as a care variant or special aniline lines are used. Suede, velour, and Alcantara are treated with Nubuk Fresh (Porsche), which preserves the rough fibre structure instead of gluing it down.
If colour fidelity to the original factory colour is crucial and the component is to be extensively restored, Leather Colour is the right choice. If only a small area (steering wheel scuff, single crack) needs to be repaired, Fluid Leather (Porsche) in the 20 ml tube is more economical and precise. If the leather only appears slightly faded, Leather Fresh as a care variant is usually sufficient.
Leather Colour (Porsche) is the professional choice for detailers, independent workshops, and ambitious owners who prioritise value retention and original Porsche colour fidelity over quick care solutions.
For lease returns, used vehicle detailing, and classic car restorations, OEM colour fidelity determines value retention and selling price. The professional 4-step workflow (clean, sand, colour, seal) takes 4 hours including drying per component and delivers a result that lasts 2–3 years, just like from the factory. One litre of Leather Colour costs approximately 30 cents per 100 ml of processed area — workshop calculation including Top Coat is around 12 Euros per component.
For pure care routines without workshop tools, Leather Colour is overkill — Leather Fresh (Porsche) is sufficient there. For spot repairs on the steering wheel or individual cracks, Fluid Leather or the Leather Care Sets (Porsche) are more economical. However, anyone who wants to restore complete seat bolsters, steering wheels, or door panels and values original Porsche colour fidelity cannot do without the 1-litre bottle or the 250 ml container.

COLOURLOCK Leather Colour (Porsche) is a water-based, elastic standard leather dye in original Porsche shades. It is used for repairing, refreshing, or recoloring pigmented smooth leather in vehicle interiors — seats, steering wheels, armrests, door panels.
First, thoroughly clean and degrease the leather. Fill and sand any damage with filler. Then, dab, wipe, or spray on thin layers of Leather Colour — 2–3 thin coats are better than one thick one. After complete drying, seal with Top Coat (Dull/Glossy/High Gloss).
Leather Colour is the professional repair dye (1L/250ml, can be sealed with Top Coat). Leather Fresh is the care colour cream (1L/100ml) for lighter touch-ups without extensive preparation. For deep abrasion → Leather Colour; for dull surfaces → Leather Fresh.
The shades are based on original Porsche factory color samples. For heavily faded leather, we still recommend a color test in an inconspicuous area, as the original leather may darken or fade over the years.
Three classics: (1) Leather not degreased beforehand — paint does not adhere. (2) Too thick a layer applied — cracks when drying. (3) Top coat sealing omitted — abrasion resistance less than 6 months. With proper preparation, the result lasts 2–3 years.
Yes, for lasting abrasion resistance. Without Top Coat, the color on seat bolsters and steering wheels will wear off again within a few weeks. Top Coat Dull = matte-original (OEM look), Glossy = medium gloss, High Gloss = high gloss.
