What is the Koch-Chemie Foamer Bottle? A 150 ml pump bottle with a dilution scale up to 1:10 that turns cleaner concentrates into a dry, high-volume foam — spot-on for upholstery, leather and Alcantara. Not for strong acidic wheel cleaners, bug removers, solvents or ready-to-use cleaners, since the bottle is built for concentrates you dilute yourself.
The Koch-Chemie Foamer Bottle (Koch Chemie Foamer Bottle) is a foam dispenser from Koch-Chemie that turns concentrated cleaners into a dry, lamella-rich foam via a built-in mixing chamber and a pump head. The active stays on the fibre longer, because the cleaning solution doesn't flood the surface like a spray — it sits there as a fine-pored foam and works the substrate layer by layer instead of soaking it through.
The side of the bottle has a volume and dilution scale printed on it, marking ratios from 1:1 to 1:10 clearly. You fill water up to the dilution mark you want first, then add the concentrate — not the other way round, or the cleaner foams up while you're filling and you lose volume. That order is the most common mistake we see day-to-day, and the reason some detailers report foam-density problems.
Detailing1's tip from the shop: The most common reason a pump mechanism fails isn't a defect — it's dried-out cleaner concentrate sitting in the pump chamber. After every cleaning session, empty the bottle, refill with clean tap water and pump 8 to 10 strokes dry until only water comes out. Those 60 seconds of care add a lot to the life of the Foamer Bottle — a pump that dries out with cleaner residue jams the return spring and then has to be pushed back by hand.
Unscrew the pump head, fill the bottle with lukewarm tap water up to the dilution mark you want, and only then top up with the concentrate — say COLOURLOCK Pol Star or the all-purpose cleaner "Mzr" — to the 100-percent mark. Put the pump head back on, tip the bottle two or three times rather than shaking it so no premature foam climbs into the pump chamber, and prime three to four strokes until stable foam comes out.
What matters is keeping concentrate and ready-to-use apart: the classic Pol Star "Po" 1L comes ready to go in the spray bottle and is NOT to be diluted — that one goes straight onto the upholstery. The Foamer Bottle is meant for the concentrate line (COLOURLOCK Pol Star, Green Star "Gs", all-purpose cleaner "Mzr"), which you couldn't use at all without diluting because it's dosed too strong.
Then wipe down with a damp microfibre cloth in one direction — never back and forth, or the dirt you've lifted works its way back into the weave. On heavily soiled seat bolsters or the top edges of backrests, a second pass with less foam beats a longer dwell time on the first pass, because the foam lamellae start to collapse after 90 seconds and the active stops working.
The dilution matrix for the most common jobs looks like this:
| Concentrate | Dilution | Surface | Dwell time |
|---|---|---|---|
| COLOURLOCK Pol Star | 1:10 | Upholstery, Alcantara, cloth seats | 1–2 min |
| COLOURLOCK Pol Star | 1:5 | Smooth leather, moderate soiling | 1 min |
| All-purpose cleaner Mzr | 1:5 | Cockpit, plastic door cards | 30 sec |
| Green Star Gs | 1:10 | General interior surfaces | 1 min |
| All-purpose cleaner Mzr | 1:10 | Headliner, cloth roof lining | 30 sec |
The Foamer Bottle covers the mid dilution range for interior chemistry — it's not a one-tool-does-everything replacement for other application gear. Strong acidic wheel cleaners, acidic bug removers and solvent-based tar removers don't belong in the dispenser, because the polypropylene seals and the stainless return spring take damage within a few uses at pH below 4 or with aromatic solvents.
Ready-to-use interior cleaners like the classic Pol Star "Po" 1L or Top Star "Ts" don't belong decanted into the Foamer Bottle either — those are set to the right concentration from the factory and would only take a pointless detour through the dispenser instead of coming straight out of the spray bottle. The Foamer Bottle is a dilution and foaming tool, not a decanting container.
For an exterior wash the 150 ml fill is simply too small and the spray radius too tight — foaming a whole body with the pump bottle takes half an hour and tires your hand out. If you want to foam paint, that's a job for a snow-foam cannon on the pressure washer, or at least a 1-litre pump sprayer with a foam nozzle.
Pinpoint work on interior surfaces → Foamer Bottle. Wide-area body pre-wash → snow-foam cannon or snow foam cleaner off the pressure washer. The second limit comes from day-to-day use: the pump head has a limited stroke volume, and after 200 to 300 strokes with undiluted concentrate the spring force drops off. Diluting here isn't optional — it's the technical condition for a long life.
The Foamer Bottle is the right call for anyone who regularly does interior detail with concentrate cleaners — your own cars, small detailing setups, commercial detailers who specialise in upholstery. If you've already got COLOURLOCK Pol Star or the all-purpose cleaner on the shelf, the dispenser is the obvious way to lay it down.
It's a worse fit if you only do a rough interior clean once or twice a year — then the spray mist straight from the original bottle of a ready-to-use cleaner is enough, and you skip the pump as a wear part entirely. In pure high-throughput commercial work too, where ten to fifteen interiors get done a day, it's worth investing in a Tornador foam attachment that runs on compressed air — that makes more foam per second and takes the load off your hand in continuous use.
The full interior detailing set pairs the Foamer Bottle with three parts: a concentrate as the chemical side, a medium-firm upholstery brush for the mechanical side, and a microfibre cloth to pick it all up. For the concentrate, the COLOURLOCK Pol Star cleaner concentrate in the 1-litre bottle is the one to grab — diluted it gives you several seasons of interior cleaning and it's tuned for upholstery, leather and Alcantara.
The unit price of 5.99 EUR sits below the typical consumable cost of a single interior detail — economically the accessory pays for itself from the third job on, because concentrate use runs about two thirds lower than spraying straight from a standard bottle. At ten interior sessions a year the Foamer Bottle pays for itself in the first month. This isn't a premium tool, it's a consumable — and that's exactly the category where it works best.
The one trick the maker doesn't write down: after every cleaning session, flush the pump through with clean water and leave the bottle open to dry out. Those 60 seconds of care turn the 5.99 EUR wear part into a tool that easily lasts two or three seasons — and that's exactly where the negative reviews fall down, hitting the missing care rather than the product.
The Koch-Chemie Foamer Bottle is a 150ml pump sprayer designed for the precise application of diluted interior cleaners as a dry foam. It is filled with concentrates like Pol Star "Po" or an all-purpose cleaner and dispenses the solution via a pump head. Suitable for upholstery, leather, Alcantara, and plastic surfaces in a vehicle's interior.
First, fill with water up to the desired dilution mark — for upholstery cleaning, the 1:10 line — and then add Pol Star up to the 100 percent mark. Place the pump head, tilt twice, pre-pump three to four times until stable foam emerges. Never add concentrate first, otherwise the product will foam during filling.
The Foamer Bottle is a hand pump sprayer with a 150 ml capacity for interior detailing. A foam cannon works with a high-pressure cleaner, holds 1 liter, and foams an entire car body. If precise interior work is needed, the Foamer Bottle is the right tool. For exterior pre-washing, a foam cannon is required.
No. Highly acidic wheel cleaners and acidic insect removers attack the polypropylene seals and the return spring in the pump head. The Foamer Bottle is designed for neutral to slightly alkaline cleaners — such as Pol Star, all-purpose cleaner, Green Star "Gs". For wheel cleaners, use a separate spray bottle made of acid-resistant PE.
In most cases, dried cleaner concentrate is the cause, not a material defect. Cleaner residues stick the return spring, and the piston no longer returns to its original position. After each session, fill the bottle with clear water and pump 8 to 10 times until only water comes out — this reliably prevents the problem.
At a 1:10 dilution, 150 ml of concentrate yields approximately 1.65 liters of ready-to-use solution — enough for four to five complete interior cleanings. At a stronger 1:5 dilution, about 900 ml of ready-to-use solution remains. One filling typically suffices for the complete interior work of a mid-range vehicle, including upholstery, carpets, and trim.
Unscrew the pump head and fill the empty bottle with lukewarm tap water up to the desired dilution mark — the scale shows ratios from 1:1 to 1:10. For Pol Star "Po" on upholstery, use the 1:10 line; for all-purpose cleaner on plastic, the 1:5 line; for Green Star "Gs" as an all-purpose cleaner, also 1:10.
Then add the cleaning concentrate up to the 100 percent mark. Do not reverse the order — if you pour in the concentrate first, you will produce premature foam when refilling with water, lose volume, and get an inconsistent dilution. Replace the pump head and tighten it hand-tight, then slowly tilt the bottle two to three times instead of shaking it. Shaking drives foam into the pump chamber and temporarily blocks the stroke.
Pump 3 to 4 times until a stable, dry foam emerges. Apply evenly to the cleaning surface from a distance of 10 to 15 centimeters — fine-pored foam holds vertically and does not soak into the upholstery fabric. Let it work for one to two minutes, then loosen with a medium-hard upholstery brush in circular motions and wipe off with a damp microfiber cloth in one direction.
Notes: The Foamer Bottle is designed for neutral to slightly alkaline cleaners — Pol Star, all-purpose cleaner, Green Star. Acidic wheel or insect cleaners attack the pump seals and belong in a separate acid-resistant spray bottle. After each session, fill the bottle with clear water, replace the pump head, and pump 8 to 10 times until clear water emerges — this prevents drying of cleaner residues in the return spring, which is the most common cause of blocked pumps. Store frost-free between 5 and 30 °C. Let the bottle air dry open after prolonged disuse.
