How do you seal freshly polished paint like a pro in under 10 minutes? With the SONAX PROFILINE SpeedProtect spray sealant: spray on, spread, buff off – done. The carnauba wax formula pulls out deep colour and high gloss with no streaking.
The PROFILINE SpeedProtect spray sealant is the quick finish for demanding detailers who want professional results and short working times. This spray sealant with natural carnauba wax combines proper paint protection with the convenience of a spray – ideal for freshly polished surfaces, new cars or regular maintenance work.
Day-to-day from Detailing1: The PROFILINE SpeedProtect also works brilliantly as a booster over existing waxes or sealants. When an old sealant starts looking tired after a few too many washes, a spray layer of SpeedProtect brings the gloss back – without touching the base coat underneath. Especially handy for showroom cars and forecourt prep.
The carnauba wax in the PROFILINE SpeedProtect formula is one of the hardest natural waxes out there. Carnauba comes from the leaves of the Brazilian carnauba palm, and it has a knack for creating extremely smooth, high-gloss surfaces. In the SpeedProtect blend the carnauba is formulated to grab quickly without leaving streaks – the classic problem with raw carnauba products.
The spray format solves the traditional carnauba dilemma: where hard waxes are often stiff and need long airing-off times, SpeedProtect is thinned in a spray with light, volatile solvents. Those solvents flash off fast, leaving the carnauba behind – without clumping or streaking. The result is an even, wafer-thin wax layer that reflects light and seals the paint.
On top of the carnauba, the formula packs modern synthetic polymers (so-called acrylic resins) for extra adhesion and UV resistance. The wax stays on the surface longer without going matt or greying – the usual downsides of pure natural waxes. This hybrid formula is the trade secret of the PROFILINE range and sets SpeedProtect apart from cheap one-component spray waxes.
SpeedProtect is deliberately simple to apply, to cut out mistakes and keep working times short:
Prep: Wash the car thoroughly and dry it with a leather or lint-free towels. You don't strictly need extra drying – SpeedProtect works on lightly damp panels too, which saves time. If you've just polished, wipe the panels down properly with microfibre cloths until there's no polish residue left.
Application: Shake the bottle well (at least 30 seconds) to mix the wax content back in. Then spray SpeedProtect onto the panels in even, parallel passes – bonnet, roof, boot lid, doors and sides. Keep the nozzle about 15–20 cm away. Don't lay it on too thick; a wafer-thin coat is plenty.
Spreading: Work SpeedProtect out evenly with the supplied sponge applicator or a fine microfibre pad. Use circular, overlapping strokes for an even layer. Don't leave the product sitting too long at this stage – you want each panel done within 1–2 minutes.
Buffing: After 5–10 minutes of flash-off time, buff with a lint-free microfibre cloth in circular or straight strokes. The cloth should be slightly damp – not wet, but not bone-dry either. That's what gives you the signature high-gloss finish. Buff it properly and you get no streaks or spotting.
Curing: Once buffed, SpeedProtect is ready to go straight away. For full hardness, leave the car unwashed for 12–24 hours so the polymers can cure fully.
The effect of PROFILINE SpeedProtect shows straight after you've worked it in:
Colour boost: The natural carnauba wax deepens the colour saturation. On dark colours especially (black, dark blue, dark red) the paint instantly looks deeper and richer – not plastic-looking or over-glossy, just classically elegant. That's the hallmark of carnauba waxes over synthetic sealants.
High gloss, no scratches: The smooth wax surface reflects light very evenly, which gives that impression of serious depth and gloss. Scratches and swirls show up less, because the surface is smoother than the bare paint.
Water repellency: Within a few hours SpeedProtect forms a hydrophobic layer and water beads right off. That's not just eye candy – it also protects the paint from fallout, bug splatter and acidic water spots.
Durability: Depending on water quality and the weather, SpeedProtect lasts 4–8 weeks. With a monthly wash (using a gentle shampoo) and regular top-ups with a detailing spray, the layer can hold up for as long as 3 months.
The spray sealant market is crowded. Alongside SONAX you've got rivals like Koch Chemie S0.02 ProtectorWax, GYEON Q²M WetCoat and various ceramic sprays. So where does SpeedProtect land?
Against Koch Chemie S0.02: The Koch Chemie is also a traditional carnauba wax formula and very popular. It feels a touch creamier to use and can leave slight streaks if you don't buff carefully. SONAX SpeedProtect dries faster and forgives small mistakes better. In return, Koch Chemie often lasts a bit longer (up to 10 weeks).
Against GYEON Q²M WetCoat: GYEON is a hybrid concept: half ceramic, half wax. WetCoat has better UV resistance and lasts up to 12 weeks. That said, WetCoat costs more and needs higher temperatures to cure properly. SpeedProtect is cheaper, quicker to use and plenty for standard upkeep.
Against ceramic spray sealants (SONAX Xtreme Ceramic Spray): Modern ceramic sprays (SiO₂-based) offer longer durability (up to 6 months) and better stain protection. But they also cost more and give a different, more modern kind of gloss. SpeedProtect is more traditional in look – a warm, deep, classic gloss instead of the clear, bright shine of ceramic.
Bottom line: SpeedProtect is the all-rounder – cheap, fast, reliable and with that classic carnauba wax character. If you want to max out durability, reach for ceramic. If you want to max out gloss and feel, go SpeedProtect.
Detailing shops and valeters: SpeedProtect is ideal when you need quick turnaround. At 10 minutes of working time, it's perfect for express detailing and showroom prep. The excellent gloss results also justify premium prices with the customer.
Private owners with a regular care routine: If you wash the car every 4–6 weeks and want it looking glossy all the time, SpeedProtect is a dependable helper. The value is excellent – just under 25 EUR for a 1-litre bottle that covers about 2–3 cars.
New cars and handover prep: New vehicles often leave the factory with only a minimal protective layer. SpeedProtect is the ideal first-coat system: mild enough to apply under showroom conditions, with results you can see straight away.
Touch-ups after scratch or swirl correction: After polishing, SpeedProtect is the perfect finish. It backs up the polishing work visually and gives instant protection – with no fiddly two- or multi-stage systems.
Not ideal for: Long-term paint protection (go for ceramic instead), harsh environments (salty air, industrial fallout) or cars that rarely get cleaned (the protection is then too short-lived).
